I suspect you think of yourself as a conservative, while I think of myself as a liberal. They are very nearly the same thing, and in the great struggle of authoritarianism versus libertarianism they are natural allies. It's reaching a point where those who tacitly support the authoritarians need to wake up and walk away.
Follow up: I intended to post this at 7:46 am today, but as I pushed the "publish" button a cryptic error message popped up. My tin-foil hat instantly came alive, and I started wondering who was censoring my post on censorship. Some hours later, a mysterious "server interference" was benignly blamed. Hmmm, as the narrative-crafting-pseudo-journos like to say "No matter the evidence, the motive is apparent. Therefore, the the indo-thinker is felt to be guilty."
