Liasing? (usually foll by: with) to communicate and maintain contact (with)
Is this home, Auntie Maxine?
Liasing?
Welcome! Thanks Admiral (Ret) John Kirby, Pentagon spokeshole, now I know what to call this activity I engage in with all of you.
US 'liaising' with Ukrainian forces in Poland: Pentagon
Seeing the Genocide is sickening. History indeed will judge many in this moment. Trying to figure out what I could do besides sending money has been confounding.
I found a link to Phenomenon of Ukrainian Electronic Music: TOP-5 Artists. Here is a playlist from one of those artists. I decided to listen today in Solidarity. It’s not much, I realize, but it is something. A positive wave of energy, that maybe combines with our universal energy to affect some change. Through Love.
I cooked some Stuffed Cabbage Rolls using an old Hungarian Recipe, which I figured was close enough to the Ukrainian variety. I gave some to a couple of neighbors, as a symbolic stand-in, as opposed to just doing nothing.
Go Home!
Maxine Waters was first elected to political office in 1976. She was elected to the US Congress in 1991. She has served 15 terms in Washington DC. What has she done? Even her own people are asking her? More cake please.
Here is a biography of a very important person in California. Another politician with Bold Vision. Because he says a lot of powerful words and emotes a lot of powerful emotion. He has great hair and is brown skin colored. Got my vote!
His biography reads like a career criminal, er, politician.
Kevin Alexander Leon (born December 10, 1966), known professionally as Kevin de León, is an American politician serving as the Los Angeles City Councilmember for District 14 since 2020.[1] A member of the Democratic Party, he is a candidate in the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election.
From 2006 to 2010, he represented the 45th district in the California State Assembly. He represented the 22nd State Senate district from 2010 to 2014, and the 24th State Senate district from 2014 to 2018. He was President pro tempore of the California State Senate from October 15, 2014 to March 21, 2018. In 2018, he ran an unsuccessful campaign against California's senior U.S. Senator, Dianne Feinstein.
I read the statement below and copied it straight off his website. I mean he can solve the problem no problem, right?
With a bold vision
Homelessness is the moral and humanitarian crisis of our lifetime, and Los Angeles is ground zero. Kevin’s City Council district currently has the largest population of unhoused people in all of Los Angeles City and more than Phoenix, Houston, and Chicago combined. In his time as a City Councilmember, Kevin has made progress, creating thousands of units of homeless housing and passing his plan to build 25,000 more. There is a lack of affordable housing, shelter beds, and services for unhoused individuals experiencing mental health issues and addiction. Los Angeles needs strong, experienced leadership capable of bringing all levels of government together around a set of clear and attainable goals.
So Question? What wrong with his vision? Not his BS vision. Like his eyesight vison. He don’t look too good, as they said in the barrio I grew up in.
Checking the PO Box the other day, I picked up the hometown paper of record, SanGabrielSun (democracy dies in darkness, after all).
Imagine my surprise when I hit Page 6. I mean, Page 6 of the SG Sun is where all the big headlines go to die, right? I have one question for Councilman de Leon and Congresswoman Waters:
Where the fuck have you been all your professional political life?
When the gate-keepers of thought worry aloud why the masses are discontent, the natural assumption is that the peasantry is so stupid that they cannot accept benevolence when it hits them in the face.
This myopic vision of self-righteousness is their eventual downfall. Just think about the last time you told a huge lie. I mean the whopper one. How many more lies were needed to support it? Yeah. We are there now.
Yamiche Alcindor on Biden's Messaging Problem: "38% Of Americans Blame Biden's Policies For Inflation And Gas Prices, Only 6% Blame Russia"
I was concerned when they said “Silence is Violence”. I was more concerned when they said “Words are Violence”. I am now very concerned when they say “Violence is not Violence”.

This is called Freedom of Speech. American Citizens have a constitutional right to freedom of expression. It really seems to bother a lot of people. I like that.

DEVO is the greatest band of all time. There. I said it. When I was 16, I got my ass kicked for saying that. Ha! Vindication is so sweet in the morning.

Another tribal defector. One after one after one after one . . .
At some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, whatever you label your sex organs as, whatever color your skin is, whatever higher power you pray to, however many legs you walk on or arms you wave with, or whatever physical characteristics your body, mind and soul possess, they have absolutely no predictive power on who you vote for or what you think. Period. Full Stop.
Labeling Independent Thought as “the Dark Side” is so Orwellian delicious I could feast rhetorically for a week on it.

And that’s it for now.
One of the most elusive results of writing on a regular basis is the seeming isolation of it. I subscribe to and read a solid dozen or so platforms here on Substack.
I comment regularly on as many. As a writer, it’s important to get feedback from the audience. As a chef, I got immediate feedback. Good and bad. As a writer, not so much.
I’ve gained subscribers by commenting on other posts, and those readers have joined in over here. Please drop me a comment and let me know how this is working for you. I see the metrics and how many of you actively read this platform. Thank you.

I went home to Portland in November, and the encampments were everywhere. And I mean that literally; there even some right on the freeway shoulder. We have so many options for housing if we’re just willing to be creative collectively. Repurposing Old commercial real estate is a good start. Same with zombie shopping malls and hotels.
One thing that worked here: an old bar was closed. They built tiny houses around it, with the building serving as a hub for cooking, restrooms, etc.
