What is Really Stopping Workers from going back to Restaurants? Let Me Know
Is it Government Cheese or Something Else?
Sorry to crowd your inbox, but I keep hearing that the federal unemployment benefits are the reason restaurant workers are not going back to work.
Maybe, for some. But for me, I don’t want that life anymore. It is brutal. And thankless. And grueling. And that was before the Now-Normal.
As evidenced by the fact you are reading these words, I have made the difficult decision to leave the industry. The adrenaline rush of that line of work is irreplaceable. And the work habits are crazy.
I want to know your story. I have a future post in mind that explores the connection to culture restaurant workers have.
The food part I get, but what drives us to almost kill ourselves to serve others a meal?
And what was the straw that broke the camels back?
Let me know,
Ric
Some people are just afraid to go back- me included - because other people are not vaccinated. Going back to work at the school district means I have to connect with parents, students, and staff that are not vaccinated! I am vaccinated but it’s not enough proof out there that I can’t get it from someone else. So I’m making a choice not to go back yet. Possibly in the fall the numbers of vaccinated persons will go up.
