Happy Sunday-Funday Stoners and Sailors,
Welcome aboard the Compass Star Wordsmith. Let’s get suited and booted for a 3-hour-cruise. I’m hopeful we’ll make it back, but we all know what happened to the Skipper and his lil’ buddy, don’t we? For the record, I’m Team Mary Ann.
Amidst the roiling boiling seas of political, cultural, and institutional chaos, let’s roll outta bed and roll a fatty! If you have not heard the phrase Wake and Bake where the hell you been? It’s as American as apple pie. Now I want pie. I’ll trust Merriam-Webster to splain it for you.
I’ve conducted years-long research into the activity and it’s effects. You know, living amongst the Natives, as it were. In this post, I’ll be sharing the results of that research, and guess what? It’s common sense - each person is unique and that trial and error usually produces individual experiences that work for that person.
Wow. Kinda sounds like sound life advice, right? Eating, drinking, gambling usually fucks us up in excess, not as much in moderation. Now with cannabis pretty much legal everywhere and lowering its federal classification is underway, it’s time to remove the last Stoner Stigma. It’s time to Wake and Bake!
HYPERWOLF put out a great piece with a logical summation:
Conclusion
In conclusion, the wake and bake tradition is a complex and deeply personal ritual within the cannabis community. It’s more than just an early morning indulgence; it’s a lifestyle choice that requires a clear understanding of strain selection, consumption methods, and balancing daily responsibilities.
Ultimately, the wake and bake ritual is about embracing the energizing and creative potential of cannabis, while also emphasizing responsible and mindful consumption. Remember, the goal is to enhance your day, not hinder it!
So, always know your limits, choose your weed strains wisely, and enjoy your morning smoke session responsibly.
As the US moves to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug, could more states legalize it?
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has proposed to shift marijuana from a “Schedule I” drug, which includes heroin and LSD, to a less tightly regulated “Schedule III” drug, which includes ketamine and some anabolic steroids. Federal rules allow for some medical uses of Schedule III drugs. But the proposed change faces a lengthy regulatory process, which may not be complete until after the presidential election.

Some Stoners prefer to eat their weed than smoke it. I’m on the fence there - I haven’t tasted a good weed cookie yet. But whatever your delivery method, if something works for you, that that’s all the validation you need. If it stops working, for you, you might want to pause and readjust. Try a gummy.
But if you’re in that cannabis camp, here’s a fun blog to trip around on.
Coffee and cream and a lenyo
The universality of weed is obvious because it’s ubiquitous. I’ve traveled to Boston, Atlanta, and Brooklyn in the past 10 months, and the smell of weed permeates the streets. Living in LA, and traveling regularly between Ventura and San Diego, Rancho Mirage to Northridge, I smell what they’re smokin.
Not everyone smokes weed, but everyone smells it. On the daily. Our habits around it fuel an industry that generates billions of dollars - legally and illegally. Institutions exist because of weed, encouraging it, selling it, interdicting it, smuggling it, adjudicating against it, serving time because of it, and ultimately, dying for it in some cases.
I’d love to know what you think about this topic. Like most of the issues confronting our divided body politic, this one has both sides as well.
Are you a Wake and Baker? Are you not? Listening is learning and reading is comprehension.
I appreciate our time together,
Ric
