Stop Judging Me
Politics and Religion are taboo no more. This was generational cultural assertion, not political realignment. Gen-Xrs led the way by living authentically and real.
Walking up to my parents house at the first Thanksgiving post-lockdown, a hand-written sign was taped to the door. I saw it when I parked, and since my daughters were staying there, I was expecting a message massively different than the one posted:
NO TRUMP TALK TODAY
Facebook and the other shit-posting dumps had started purging free-thinkers, and now the family was literally posting shit and dumping wrong-thinkers. On the day of thanks no less! Seems a million covid-years ago. So much in between.
I acquiesced, as did the few other family members “in the cult”. At great cost, we now discover. We stayed silent for the first time in our lives, due to a multiplier of force we’d never encountered. The "Polite Society” we had always rebelled against was now so massively and powerfully allied against the commoner, we were overwhelmed.
For the first time in our lives, we hesitated. The costs, now so high due to family and financial responsibility, trumped our anti-authority postures. Now the power we raged against could be our wife or mom or daughter. We blinked. Then we lost.
Trump Wins Generation X
I’ve been banging this drum for ever, like even before Substack (tell us about the time before Substack again, please Grandpa). Remember back before ALL men were bad? It was just straight white Christian dudes. Bad motherfuckers, those crazy Duke brothers. One Stars ‘n Bars post brought down a rain of hate. Other whites were ok, as long as they hated on the white trash and their handmaidens.
The mistake is believing that skin color and sex dominates critical thinking. So, if we band together all the brothers and point them in one direction, it was felt, and then get the homies all going there too, based on an ephemeral and illusionary hatred of whites, it creates this rainbow coalition. Because all POC hate white people.
Then something weird happened. We started noticing that there sure are a lot of mixed-race relationships and mixed-race babies. Hmm, white people bad is a hard argument to make to a black boy with a white mom. Or a brown girl with a white dad. Demanding that we hate our own flesh and blood cut deep.
My first post on Substack was about this very phenomenon, and what it predicted for future elections. Their focus on tribal affiliations was fallacy built on failed fantasies of tired, old boomers struggling to remain relevant in a digital world. Not realizing that their offspring had fulfilled the racial harmony thing they all protested for.
They didn’t realize, and won’t, because they are still completely self-absorbed as a collective (see octogenarian politicians in power for 50 years). They ignored us as children, and now, condemn us as adults. The cohort they spawned has wrested away power from a dying desperate generation fading into oblivion. Gen-X was born and bred for this job, and we executed.

Then, a curious thing happened. They started throwing all the dudes in the toxic pool. Pretty soon, gay white Christian males sucked too. Ok, that was cheap. But true, because as the rainbow flag added stripes, the victim-totem-pole got chopped off at the knees. Uh-oh, awkward moments over turkey this year.
But black and brown dudes were still cool. Fuck the gringo and the cracker, we’re down with dems! Now, the homies and brothers are in the pool. We got us a multi-racial woman-hating toxic pool of machismo men. Anyone with a penis was forbidden, forboden, and fascist. Almost. We still liked women with vaginas, mostly, but the women with penises we celebrated.
Ostensibly, because they still had vaginas and ovaries and such, which could actually produce or eliminate fetuses, “Birthing People” were strung along to provide a scientific basis for abortion. So they had a dog in this fight. So to speak. But now the rubicon has been fully crossed: white women are misogynistic racists too!
So Caitlyn, Lia, or Dylan could have won? If all it takes is a penis and white skin, all three qualify. Correction: Caitlyn retired her penis, my bad. Reductive reasoning replaced deductive reasoning, and experts became fools. The thought patrol employed tech masters to enforce language control. Freedom was too free.
Language patrol empowered behaviour control and conferred moral superiority over the unwashed masses. All of a sudden, every voter realized it was a Dr. Evil or Gru (before he turned baby-face) situation. They wanted to control all aspects of our thoughts and actions. Fat, lazy, and compliant is a perverse utopia with government as mommy.
Kitchen Table Issues and The Economy Stupid are just stupid now
If you’re raised like me by a single mom working three jobs, just hearing the phrase The Kitchen Table is like hearing a corrupt cop called A Bad Apple - complete and total bullshit and identifying the speaker as knowing shit. Using nondescript bland phrases exposes experts as useless. This “Kitchen Table” talk hits our generation like a lead brick in the ear.
Gen-X is in horrible shape financially (thanks again Boomers), so stop using their language to describe our cohort’s motivation. Are they aware of the definition of Latchkey Kid. We didn’t eat dinner at the kitchen table, and for our parents (if we had two in the house) finances were argued about in a drunken rage at midnight, not discussed dispassionately over dinner with the adoring children.
Seeing a campaign piss off a billion dollars like our alcoholic parents did before divorce and winding up in debt, then blaming the kids for it all is not a winning stance. We were used to it. But now, we’re sick and tired of it. And we changed it.

That’s a fact and a bitter red pill for many to swallow. Karen, you listening? Smarter people than me are slicing and dicing this thing to death, but it’s always the path of least resistance. For water. For electricity. And most assuredly, for human behaviour.
Our nature seeks food, warmth, and safety. Those needs neither increase nor diminish based on one’s skin color or biological sex. When basic needs are not met and discomfort besets a people, belittling those needs creates friction. Giving those needs to “newcomers” is insulting. Demeaning people begging for those needs creates revolution. Lying to people by saying they have the needs but are too stupid to know it, is fatal. It’s that simple.
