Every now and again, the human brain breaks. There must be 7 billion reasons why. Mine is simple: too many working hours and not enough sleeping hours. For me, that tends to suck every ounce of soul from me, including my creative soul.
My labor for legal tender in the employ of a global corporation satisfying the culinary whims of the more fortunate among us adds a philosophical underpinning that fuels much of my writing.
I’ve lived with a chip on my shoulder for as long as I can remember. That chip has always pushed me forward. The more comfortable my life grows, that chip seems to shrink. I’m left to wonder if I lose the chip, what will motivate me?
What I find here on Substack are creators that can inspire me. My goal in sharing these creators with you is for you to find something that inspires you. Some have a different chip on their shoulder. That feels familiar.
If you’ve wondered what it would be like to write or draw or create, stop wondering and start doing it. Substack is a great place to begin.
I’ll be back next week. In the meantime, take a look at some of my favorites here on Substack.
Take care of yourself first, and don’t feel bad about it.
