Guess What Just Happened to Me?
I got published! Hard Work Pays Off. Appreciate Good Things Life Offers.
I’ve been teasing an announcement for a few weeks now. This weekend has been a culmination of sorts for me. The process of writing is a blend of art and science. I’ve been hammering this craft into submission for over a year and a half now on an upward progression. A blind squirrel finds a nut now and again. Or two.
My feature article on Jack White hit on Friday and my interview with Chris Hall from Stabbing Westward dropped today.
mxdwn Interview: Chris Hall of Stabbing Westward Reflects On Past Legacies And New Directions in New Album, Chasing Ghosts
RIC IECZEL JULY 18TH, 2022 - 9:00 AM
This interview was my first. Chris Hall was extremely gracious and completely involved. He laughed often and easily and confided inside jokes that widened this writer’s comfort zone. His corrections and contradictions educated me as well.
Hall’s wit and charm are grounded in his young boy’s antics. He speaks with greater admiration of their accomplishments than his own. His willingness to share credit, take the blame, and then claim credit and reject blame is real life.
Chris Hall is not afraid of the past, and Chasing Ghosts is a powerful sonic thrust with some universal tender language. The power of the sound pushes and pushes, almost uncomfortable with dread, and then his melodic warble scream hits your middle ear and destroys that trepidation.
Stabbing dissects heartache and love-pain to grind down those sensitive nerves that cause our nightmares. Listening to this record on headphones upside down on your bed will change your life. Not joking, man!
Respect Commander: Father Jack White, Patron Saint of Upholstery?

His anonymous design and funding of his childhood Little League park say it all. He made a guitar out of a Coke bottle, a board, a nail, and a piece of wire. Enough said.
Just live the life before you
Ric
Writing up an interview is difficult; conducting the interview is easy so long as you remember that your job is to facilitate his talking - not yours. Congratulations!
Congratulations Ric!
