I wrote and worked on a piece last October. And even before that. I’ve edited it more times than I can remember. I’ve hated it and the process so many times. And a special friend has made editing a new and wonderous thing.
It’s hard to believe that at 55 years old I decided to apply for an unpaid intern writer role at mxdwn.com. And then a year or so later, to have a body of work. Features and interviews have been accomplished without a clue as to how to do it.
I’m so proud of myself. And that’s a hard thing to say. I’m very glad that I said it to you. Because you, my reader family, make so many things possible. Yeah, money. But beyond the legal tender is the tender tender.
It’s funny. I get paid for Substack, but not mxdwn.com. Which one is for real? Both. And none.
It’s like I said in high school,

Nice work! Both are real, and both are tangible results of your efforts.
