Let's see what sticks . . .
Hi there,
Yes, this is not the same format as the first three. And the next three may be different yet. And beyond that, who knows? I’m using this space to stretch. My intentions are to just be intentional. During the week, I copy and past headlines that catch my attention.
Then on Monday mornings, I sift through and see what sticks. Could be headlines, Substack or other media posts, craft, art, photos, food, news, jokes, music. Just a free space that hopefully encourages engagement.
A big push here on Substack is this engagement thing. Lots of threads lately about threads. Open threads, Q & A threads, advice threads. It is all in an effort for one thing. To involve you. My readers. You are the reason I am doing this.

Did I mention History? The 5th of my Elements of Culture. The beauty of history is just that. It’s HISTORY. All of things that have really actually literally happened before us and our time. It’s the closet thing we have to time-travel.
History Of Africa with Zeinab Badawi
Stumbled across this channel amongst the hundreds. So glad I did. And especially this series. Ghana suffered immensely because of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Monrovia in Liberia was the landing point for freed slaves returning to Africa after the emancipation.
One professor describes how the freed slaves, only 5% of the population of their newly adopted homestead, considered themselves more educated than the indigenous population. With that education came prejudice.
As happens when oppressed, indigenous people get really pissed off. Can this be called racism? Both groups were black skin colored. Maybe we might call this tribalism. Or even more, classism.
Seems like a lot of Europeans considered themselves more educated than the indigenous population they encountered. Seems like human beings just are filled with human nature.

I recently subscribed to Black to School, which sends out African diasporas history outside human trafficking. It’s refreshing to hear about inspiring stories of wealth and innovation. I’m looking forward to learning more and teaching my children.
